Firearm ownership is not required for WDH I. Handguns, shooting and firearms ownership can be an intimidating obstacle for the novice. Students will be trained in the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home and on the person. Firearm selection, carry and use, as well as unique problems specific to Women will be covered in depth. Many of the subjects covered in the DFI advanced courses will be discussed and two hours of live fire training will be undertaken. Strategies include home security, carjack avoidance techniques, and use of personal safety devices. The purpose of this Women specific course is to offer them the opportunity to learn and practice these necessary skills in a low stress environment. No previous training required. Handguns and ammunition available.

Students will receive the 144 page Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, Gun Safety Rules brochure, DFI Course Outline Binder, Student DVD, and Course Completion Certificate. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Women’s Defensive Handgun II will reinforce the skills acquired in the WDH I course, and is approximately 90% live fire training.
