The Police are NOT obligated to protect you.
The Police investigate crimes AFTER they occur...

On June 27, 2005 in the case of Castle Rock v. Gonzales, the Supreme Court of the United States found that Jessica Gonzales did NOT have a Constitutional right to police protection, even in the presence of a restraining order against her estranged husband. She sued her local police department for not responding to her 911 call. Her three Daughters were killed.

By a vote of 7-to-2, the Supreme Court ruled that Gonzales has no right to sue her local police department for failing to protect her and her murdered children from her estranged husband.

The average national response time of a 911 call is 8 minutes.

You, and you alone, are responsible for your personal safety and that of your family. Life is not fair. You must acquire a level of knowledge, training, skills, and a mindset that will ensure your chance of survivability, “when things go bump in the night.”http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/ucrhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Rock_v._Gonzalesshapeimage_15_link_0shapeimage_15_link_1
