• ALWAYS keep your gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. Control the muzzle. Never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill or destroy.

• ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Keep your trigger finger indexed on the side of the frame, until you are on the target.
On the target, on the trigger... Off the target, off the trigger.

• ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until you’re ready to use it.
Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety, if present, and if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action, or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does. NEVER assume a gun is empty, or take anyone else’s word that it is. Even after checking and clearing a gun, always treat it, and handle it as if it were loaded. If you’re carrying it, you should be ready to use it. If you’re not comfortable carrying a loaded firearm, get the professional training you need from a Certified Defensive Handgun Instructor.

• ALWAYS be sure of your target and what lies beyond it.
Think First, Shoot Second. You are responsible for every round you fire, and every round you fire will have a lawyer attached to it. There will NEVER be an acceptable excuse or legal defense for collateral damage caused by negligence.
